Ladies Only 2 Day Pistol/Rifle Course
Brennan Brennecke, Owner of Gateway Defense, and I are excited to bring a ladies-only two-day 2 Gun course to the East Tennessee area.
This course is NOT meant for beginners. You must be proficient with a handgun and know the basics of a rifle. You should know how to draw from a holster and be equipped with your own belt, holster, and magazine pouches.
Class Structure: Day 1 Pistol, Day 2 Rifle
Time: 9 am start time; expect to be on the range until 3 or 4 pm. We will break for a short lunch.
Pistol Goals
- Safety
- Firearm Manipulations – load, unload, malfunction clearing, etc.
- Drawing from the holster and shooting multiple rounds on targets at varying distances
- Unconventional shooting positions
- Timed drills
- If time allows, setting up and shooting a USPSA/IDPA-style stage
Rifle Goals
- Safety
- Mechanics
- Group Shooting
- Positional work (offhand, kneeling, barricade, prone, etc.)
- If time allows, working both pistol and rifle together
Gear Requirements
- Hearing and Eye protection
- Closed-toe shoes are required, as well as a shirt that goes around your neck (no V-necks or tank tops)
- Pistol with iron sights or red dot optic (zeroed) (9mm or greater)
- 3-4 magazines with pouches
- Sturdy belt
- Proper OWB holster
- Rifle with red dot optic (zeroed), LPVO, or combination (.223/5.56 OR 9mm PCC)
- Rifle sling
- 2-3 rifle magazines with 1-2 pouches
- Rifle Bipod (optional)
Round Count
- Minimum 350 rounds pistol (9mm or greater) – recommend bringing 500
- Minimum 300 rounds rifle (.223/5.56 or 9mm) – recommend bringing 500
Ammunition: Super Vel Ammunition offers the best bang for your buck. You can purchase .223 and 9mm in BULK for a great price with the more you buy.
If you do not have the proper gear but have the knowledge/experience for this class, please email [email protected] about renting gear, firearms, etc. Windrock also has gun rentals, but you will need all the gear associated with these firearms.
Optional Sight-In/Rifle Fitment: If you plan to borrow or rent a firearm for this course OR you don’t have your current pistol or rifle sighted in or fitted to you, email [email protected] about coming to the range Friday afternoon BEFORE the weekend class. Windrock Shooting Range will charge its daily rate for the range time, but there will be no extra charge for this sight-in/fitment time.
Please bring your lunch, snacks, water, sunscreen, and anything else you need to be comfortable. There is a burger food truck not even a mile down the road that you can also get lunch from.
Brennan
Brennan’s unique perspective of training has been based around a balance of both defensive and competitive shooting. He has had the distinct privilege of being able to train under a wide variety of instructors across the industry, ranging from multiple IPSC World Champions, SWAT Operators, Special Operations snipers, USPSA Grandmasters, and many others. His training has spanned topics including competition shooting, concealed carry, CQB, night vision, long-range precision rifle, scoped carbine, low light, weapons-based grappling, and more.
Brennan is now the owner and Lead Instructor of Gateway Defense Training LLC, where he travels the country teaching pistol and rifle classes with a heavy emphasis on performance shooting. He is passionate about helping people learn to increase their performance by exploring the key principles of shooting, learning to track their progress using quantifiable metrics, and developing a structured path for self-improvement.
Kenzie
Kenzie Fitzpatrick is a professional competitive shooter, a published writer in the firearm industry, and a firearms instructor. She is also the Founder of Reticle Up, a marketing agency specializing in social media marketing, content creation, and email marketing for small to medium businesses in the outdoors industry. Kenzie launched her professional shooting career in 2014 when she earned a spot on Florida State University’s pistol team, competing in GSSF and SCSA events. Since then, she has competed in 3 Gun, PRS, PCSL 2 Gun, NRL22, Cowboy Action, USPSA, AK Matches and more shooting competitions. Kenzie is the host of and launched the Reticle Up Podcast in 2021, where she interviews competitive shooters, hunters, anglers, entrepreneurs, and outdoorsmen of all backgrounds, ages, and expertise levels. She’s also a hunting enthusiast and enjoys all things outdoors!
